Obviously I wasn't monitoring Bryce too closely while he was coloring this morning. Anybody can draw on paper but it takes a true artist to create such a design on one's own face (especially without a mirror). I thought the blue marker really brought out the color of his eyes!

Bryce is WIDE OPEN for most of his waking hours. The good news is that he's a fabulous sleeper. His naps generally aren't long but he sleeps a solid 11-12 hours at night. This is a big accomplishment for our family. Our girly's frequently were up during the night at his age.

What a difference a week can make. Last weekend was full of rain and snow but that's only a memory now. We're now at about 80 degrees, for a few days anyway. We filled our weekend with outdoor activities that included the Botanical Gardens, bike rides and a picnic lunch. Our crazy kids were flying off a stone wall at the gardens. It was all fun and games till Lexa crashed and burned! She handled it well with only a minor scrape to her booty!

Snow Day

 

 

 

 

Finally a real snow storm. I took pictures really early into the snowstorm because I wasn't a believer. Thought we'd get a few flakes and that would be the end. By the time we went to bed we actually had a couple of inches and much to my amazement there was a solid 4 inches this morning. My poor children wore plastic bags over their socks under their sneakers because we don't own any boots. Our sleds were even more embarrassing.... nap maps. Our friend Julie rocked the party when she pulled out the boogie board. Good fun!

Meet Puddles The Salamander

 

 

 

 

My good friend Melissa e-mailed the other night offering Ally a salamander that her husband's biology class had just finished studying. Ally was thrilled! Puddles looks like an alligator/snake combination and is big, much bigger than I anticipated! We bought another tank, dirt and crickets (yum!). She already has 2 anoles that can't live in harmony so they occupy 2 separate tanks. So yes, we now have 2 lizards, 1 salamander, 2 african dwarf frogs and 3 dogs. Did I mention that I'm not a huge animal fan!! Mammals I can tolerate but anything other than that, no thanks. The good news is that the house we're buying has a basement where we can set up a table for all the tanks. I love that Ally has something that truly interests her though. She checks on them daily, feeds them, talks about them constantly and even researches them. She thinks Tim (our friend that's the biologist at the University) has the best job ever. She's hoping he'll still be teaching at Clemson when she's in college!
