Crack A Geode

 

 

 

 

Stopped by a local rock shop on our trip to Maine. Both girls cracked a geode from Mexico. Proud new owners of various quartz crystals.

Ally's Frog

 

 

 

 

After many attempts, Ally finally caught herself a frog. Those little guys are fast. I admire her determination to keep trying!

Beachin' It

 

 

 

We made a quick trip to the beach yesterday. Only found 4 crabs so we'll be back out tomorrow looking for some real treasures- sand dollars, starfish, seaglass. The waters abit chilly here in Maine. Ally made it knee deep. I think maybe Alexa's toes got wet. Bryce screamed at the mere thought.

Life Long Friends

 

 

Zan, Kristin and I have been friends since childhood. Seems like just yesterday that Zan and I were working on her parents strawberry farm. As for Kristin, well we lived together (or at least across the hall from each other) for 5 out of 6 years of college!

Fountain Fun

 

 

 

 

Oh, to be a kid again. It's the simple things in life that make for such sweet childhood memories. It was a fleeting moment however, because everyone except Alexa, found the fountain to be extremely cold and could only tolerate about 10 minutes! Speaking of childhood memories, we're heading to Maine this week. My kids have been asking daily when we're leaving. They have so many activities planned- catching bullfrogs with Grammy and Grampy, beach combing with Papa John, riding the Kubota with Dave and picking flowers with Mama Lal. Personally, I love you all up there in Maine but my first stop will be at "the ice cream parlor". Nothing beats walking on the waterfront eating a soft serve from Wahl's Dairy Port!!

Another fun filled day on the boat. We had more excitement than usual on this trip though. Everyone was swimming, eating, digging in the sand and Brent was tossing a few fishing lines over. Brent always lets the kids reel in the fish when one is on the line. They pulled in a couple sunfish, admired them and let them go. Oliver was in charge of reeling in the 3rd catch which just about pulled him off the boat!! Turned out it was a big turtle. Not a snapper though so no problem everyone carried on as usual. The next nibble was the catch of the season. We reeled in a huuuuuge snapping turtle. Noone seemed to want to swim in that spot after that! I didn't get a photo of that one cause nobody would get close enough to pose with it. Just as we started the grill big black clouds moved in. We packed up and headed to our house for our bar-b-que out of fear of lightning! Never did rain though.

Independence Day

 

 

 

 

We were able to enjoy 2 nights of fireworks. First night was at the YMCA where they put on a pretty impressive show. Ally loved it, Alexa fell asleep and Bryce teetered back in forth between watching and sleeping. Not sure how anyone can fall asleep while fireworks are exploding over your head, but my children are proof that it is possible. Last night Brent and friends took the kids to our neighbors dock and watched as various homes on the lake put on displays. Everybody stayed awake for that one!
